The founder of Terrevie has psoriasis — a chronic skin condition that makes ingredient choices deeply personal. For years, finding a deodorant that didn't trigger a flare-up felt impossible. Most natural deodorants leaned heavily on baking soda as their active ingredient, and while it sounds harmless, baking soda is highly alkaline. For skin already prone to inflammation, that pH imbalance was enough to cause painful flare-ups, redness, and irritation that lasted for days.

We tried the natural alternatives. Some worked, some didn't. Many used baking soda — which, it turns out, is highly alkaline and can disrupt your skin's natural pH, causing just as much irritation as the chemicals we were trying to avoid. Others used aluminum compounds to block sweat entirely, which felt like the wrong approach altogether.
